How to Remove Air from Your Brake Lines Without Bleeding

posted on November 15, 2021

Brakes are critical to your vehicle, and it is essential to avoid failure. Air sometimes gets into the circuit and when it does, knowing how to get the air out of brake lines without bleeding is crucial. This means getting all air from the braking system to maintain its effectiveness when stopping your car.

How do Your Know there is Air in The Brake Lines?

Following are some of the symptoms that will indicate the presence of air inside your brake lines:-

  • When you are pressing down on the brake pedal, it feels spongy
  • The brakes also become soft and not as functional as they usually are.
  • The brake pedal is also significantly depressed and can sometimes reach the floor without much effectiveness.

When you notice these signs, it is usually a sign that there is air, which you should get out to maintain the effectiveness of your brakes.

Getting Air Out of the Brake Lines

There is a hose and screw usually located under your brake system. This is where we will get the air out from. Remove the screw and place your finger on the hole. Ensure that you are careful about this since we need to ensure that we get rid of all the air. Our second objective is to get the air out of the braking system without bleeding.

While your finger is on the hole, ask someone to pump the brakes slowly and carefully until the braking fluid reaches your finger.

At this point, all the air will have gotten out of your braking system, and your fluid will still be intact. Get the screw back in place and return everything else to the state it was in before. Your braking system is not devoid of all air and can function correctly.

Conclusion

Safety is essential for your car, and functional brakes are a critical component of this. Air in your brake lines can significantly reduce the performance of your brakes, which presents safety concerns. Using the instructions above, you can get rid of the air without having to bleed your brake lines.
