How to Make Subs Louder Outside the Car?

posted on June 3, 2022

If you want your subwoofer to sound better outside the car, you’ve got a few options. In this article, we’ll talk about how to tune your amplifier, increase the size of your subwoofer, and lay it down in an open space. Hopefully, you’ll find these suggestions useful. Until next time, happy listening! And remember, no matter what method you use, it’s only a matter of personal preference.

Rearward-facing subs

Installing rearward-facing subs is a great way to increase the volume of your bass in your car. These subs make the bass waves more focused and louder outside the car. They also prevent bass waves from escaping the car and resulting in better sound quality. In this article, we’ll cover some of the advantages and disadvantages of rearward-facing subs.

One way to increase the bass volume of rearward-facing subs is to install a second amplifier, or another woofer in the car. Make sure the woofer faces the rear window. The second woofer can be installed in a ported enclosure if the car does not have one already. Make sure the woofer is powerful enough to handle the additional volume.

Tuning the amplifier

The car audio system is among the most prized features of a car. To make it work properly, it needs to be tuned to produce distortion-free, hi-definition sound. There are various tools for this purpose. One can try using an oscilloscope, and one can download test tones from the internet. Regardless of what tool you choose, this step is crucial to the success of your subs’ audio system.

To test the output signal of your amplifier, use an oscilloscope. During a test, play a 40 Hz tones. Make sure that the volume and gain are both at minimum levels. If the volume and gain of the subwoofers is not loud enough, try adjusting the Gain of the amplifier until you can hear a humming sound. Once you find the correct settings, turn the amplifier gain up or down until you hear a clean signal.

Increasing the size of the subwoofer

Increasing the size of your subwoofer outside the car can have a dramatic effect on the overall sound. By increasing the subwoofer’s cone size, you will be able to create more bass while simultaneously raising the sound pressure levels in your vehicle. This will also help your car’s visibility at events. If you are considering increasing the subwoofer’s size, you can read our list of the best 6.5 component speakers for bass.

When increasing the size of your subwoofer outside the car, you have to consider its power and peak power. Because subwoofers are meant to be used inside a car, their peak power is much higher than the average speaker. However, if you are looking for louder sound, you can boost its power by adding another amplifier to your car. Another way to boost the subwoofer’s power is to install a second woofer, preferably ported. Make sure to install the second woofer facing the rear window.

Laying down a subwoofer in an open area

For maximum bass, consider installing a subwoofer in an open area. Its shape will also determine its placement. If you have a long, narrow room, you should position the sub in the center. If you have a large room, consider placing the sub on either side of your audio focus. If you do place it too far away, bass will blend in poorly.

If you want to make your subs louder outside the car, you should place them near an open space. This will ensure they get the best possible air circulation. However, it is not recommended to install a subwoofer in the spare tire well, as this will make the trunk completely useless. Instead, you should build a box that allows for the best placement.
