Sleep is one of the most important parts of a road trip. Sleeping in the front seat of a car can be tough, especially if you’re tall. But with the right equipment and a little creativity, it’s doable.
How to sleep comfortably in the front seat of a car
1 Being prepared
This means having necessary items before sleeping. This includes trash bags (to cover yourself with), water, food, and anything else that might get cold throughout the night.
2 Find a Cool, Safe Space To Park Properly
You’ll need a large, open space to park, but make sure it’s not too bright. And obviously, no one else should be around.
3 Adjust the car seat
Push the seat up as far as it will go, then recline it to a comfortable position where your feet can touch the bottom of the front seat. This way, when you wake up in the morning, you’ll be able to stand up with ease without kicking anyone or being bumped by a steering wheel.
4 Strategically Place Yourself In the Car
To increase comfort, try to place yourself parallel with the car’s interior. This way, you won’t have to lay at an awkward angle or stretch too much to sleep comfortably. Also, make sure you can get in and out of the car easily.
5 Sleeping Positions & How To Be Comfortable
Sleeping on your side with pillows at the small of your back (and ankles) is the most comfortable sleeping position. It’s also the easiest to achieve. If you’re tall, try using your pillow as a footrest. Put it between your feet and use it as an extra cushion.
6 Play Soft music If You Can’t Sleep Naturally
This is where bringing your phone’s playlist comes in handy. Insert some relaxing tunes that are calming but not too distracting and sleep on them.
